Grandma’s 5 Meat Award Winning Chili

"I wanted to find award winning chili recipes so I used parts of other recipes and then added my own touches. I've won 2 awards with this chili, the second award was against over 100 entries and the first against approximately 30 entries. My whole family loves this recipe."

Ingredients

IngredientQuantity
1 diced onion 4strips bacon, fat trimmed, 1 can tomato juice, 1 lb. lean ground beef, 1 can Rotel, 1 tsp. chili powder, dash salt/pepper, dash of onion/garlic powder, 1 small can tomato paste
l/2 lb. beef stew met
1/2 lb. ground turkey
3 mild Italian sausages
2 cans chili beans
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 can petite diced tomatoes
grated cheddar cheese

Directions

In the Instant Pot, saute finely diced onion with trimmed bacon.  Remove fat/muscle from the stew meat and brown with the onion and bacon.  Remove any grease and add stew meat with 1 can of tomato juice and 1 small can of tomato paste. Cook in the instant pot 45 minutes to tenderize the meat.

Meanwhile, brown the ground turkey, ground beef and Italian sausages in a skillet.  Pour off the fat when done.  In a mini chopper, add the Rotel and petite diced tomatoes and blend.  This eliminates big chunks of tomatoes but adds wonderful flavors!  (If you like chunkay tomatoes in your chili, then eliminate this step.)

When Instant Pot mixture is done, add the meat mixture from the skillet along with the chili beans, chili powder, cayenne, salt and pepper.  These seasonings can be adjusted to taste – mild to blazing hot.  (Some prepackaged spices can be used such as McCormick Chili Seasoning if you desire.)

Cook for 30 minutes the entire mixture in the Instant Pot to blend all the flavors.  Onion/Garlic powder can be added at this time as well if desired.  ]

When finished serve with grated cheddar cheese, diced onions, if desired and make a pan of cornbread for added fun!
