80% Lean Ground Beef
Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes, Drained
Tomato Sauce
Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed
Chili Powder
Light Brown Sugar
Cinnamon

Directions

  1. Combine jalapeno rings, water, sugar, vinegar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Once the liquid is boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Cover the saucepan and remove from the heat to cool.
  4. While the jalapenos are cooking, heat the olive oil over medium heat in a skillet.
  5. Add the onion and red pepper to the skillet and sauté for 10 minutes.
  6. Set the onion and red pepper aside in a bowl.
  7. In the same skillet, brown the ground beef.
  8. Return the onion and red pepper to the skillet.
  9. Add tomatoes, black beans, and tomato sauce to the skillet.
  10. Finely chop the candied jalapenos and add to the skillet, reserving one dozen jalapeno slices for garnish.
  11. Stir in the chili powder, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  12. Let the chili simmer over medium heat until hot and the flavors are blended.
  13. Garnish with the reserved jalapeno slices and serve.
