"I like to include surprising ingredients in my recipes. For this beef chili entry that ingredient is dark chocolate chips. The hint of cocoa pairs perfectly with a glass or two of Black Box Pinot Noir. Enjoy!"

Add olive oil and butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add minced garlic, onion, green pepper, and red pepper. Cook until vegetables start to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the diced beef cubes, garlic powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Stir occasionally until beef is browned, about 10 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes w/chilis, black beans, and beef broth. Bring to a boil and then cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer covered for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in panko bread crumbs and dark chocolate chips. Cover and let rest for about 10 minutes. Serve with a dollop of sour cream, chopped green onion and corn chips, if desired.
